I drove down to Kaka`ako Waterfront Park in hopes of photographing the Triple Conjunction, where Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury will form a small triangle. The best days for this event was Jan. 8-10. To my disappointment there were far too many clouds that I knew it would not be possible to see the Conjunction. So I patiently waited to see what I'd be able to salvage. I saw the sun setting behind all the clouds and I noticed an area, where the setting sun would meet the horizon, was clear of clouds. Chances for photographing the green flash looked promising, so I waited and waited and here are the results.
Looks like some type of research ship anchored way off shore.
People having fun cruising the waters.
Waves crashing on the rock wall.
Sun rays over the clouds with birds flying high.
The sun is starting to set behind the clouds.
The sun is just above the horizon and I see this tug boat in my viewfinder.
On my left, I see these barges being towed by the tug boat while the sun is starting to go down.
No, No ,No!!! What bad luck...the barges are going to block my view of the setting sun.
Rats!!!! The sun is setting behind the barges. Where's the torpedoes.
Whew!!! That was a close call. All is not lost.
Down, Down, Down goes the sun. Where's the Green Flash? Will it show its self?
Do you see what I see? Sliver of green surrounding the sun.
Do you see the green now?
Now do you see it?
OK you must be able to see it now, plain as day!!!
The research ship still anchored way off shore.
Check out the people in this and the next photo. No one is wearing face masks. GRRR!!!
Attempted to photograph trail lights from the boats, but between the boat rocking and the wind shaking my camera, I could only get this photo.
All in all, although I was not able to see the Triple Conjunction, seeing and photographing the Green Flash was very satisfying. Can't say what's my next adventure, just stay tune.
