Hamakua Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary - January 31, 2021

We got to the Hamakua Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary early in the morning as the sun was rising. It was cloudy and overcast but more importantly it was NOT RAINING!!!  First order of the day was lots of Stilt action, then the Heron, the Coots and the Ducks.

As you can see overcast conditions today.

Today, we had a new greeter.

Seems like these stilts took a course in performing arts, specifically ballet.

The attack of the alae ula (moorhens). Hey you guys, get away from me!!!

Oh, Oh battle formation.

Yikes, look at me I'm running on water.

I want my mama!!!

Thank you for feeding me, mama.

Where's my head?

I caught a fish. Now let me show you how to eat it.

Very important to position the fish properly.

Almost pau!!!

Holy smokes, I swallowed the whole fish.

Wow, if I didn't know any better, I thought I was at a chicken fight.

HI YAAA, an Alae Ula with a flying karate kick.

I forgot my reading glasses today and it caused me to delete most of my shots because they were out of focus. Overall I'm quite pleased with the action that I photographed today.

Foster Botanical Garden - January 13, 2021

I decided on a solo shoot at Foster Botanical Garden and got there at 10:30 am. The weather was clear, the air was cool, the ground a little muddy in some areas, but seems like a good day for creating photographs.

ENJOY THE FLOWERS!!!

Peace and harmony. Welcome, sit and relax.

The dinosaurs were out in numbers today, check them out.

Here's looking at you. Are you my meal?

I am hungry, feed me!!!

These guys were flying around, chasing each other at top speed.

Have you ever seen a butterfly with its wings down?

Seems like this butterfly is paddling a surfboard in the air!!!

The Botanical Garden was fairly empty. Only a few people were there and I was glad all were wearing face masks.  I'm assuming the flowering plants are dormant, as I did not see many blooms today.
