Thought I'd go whale watching this morning at Makapu`u Point. The morning air was cool with a slight breeze and no signs of rain clouds. A perfect morning for a hike. Many tourists, as well as locals, with 95% of them wearing face masks.
At the first lookout I could see three of the Hawaiian Islands.
On the left is Maui, in the middle Molokai, and on the right Lanai.
Here are some examples of the whales breathing air out of its blowhole.
You can even hear the "spout" (air coming out of it's blowhole).
A view to enjoy as you continue up the Makapu`u Lighthouse Trail.
An interesting rock formation....what do you see?
There must be a cave under this rock ledge. Two blowholes appear as the result of the waves crashing on the ledge. Or maybe two whales are stuck under the ledge.
A view from the top of the Makapu`u Lighthouse Trail.
A whale waving with its fin.
A mama whale with her calf.
The back view of Kokohead.
Oh, Oh rain clouds, I must hurry to the car.
Today was such a rewarding day. I was able to hike the Makapu`u Lighthouse Trail and photographed some awesome views of our Island and of the whales on their annual visit to the Island's warm waters.
As we say "LUCKY WE LIVE HAWAII". To my friends on the mainland "E Komo Mai" (welcome).
