Partial Solar Eclipse April 8, 2024

My morning started with my alarm going off at 4:45 am and me leaving home at 5:30 am to be at Halona (Blow Hole) Lookout for the sunrise at 6:18 am.  The weather was windy with cool air and a somewhat cloudy horizon. I set up my camera and waited as other photographers with longer lenses and more professional equipment than mine, started setting up their cameras. Then the agonizing wait till 6:33 am for the start of the eclipse. As the sun rose above the clouds on the horizon, everyone was glad to see the sun. Just as 6:33 am was approaching, the sun started rising in the back of the clouds, blocking the start of the eclipse. From there on, the eclipse could be seen in and out of the clouds as you will see the the following photos. I purposely put more than my normal number of photos on this blog, since the next partial eclipse, visible in Hawaii, won't be until October 2, 2024, so do not dispose of your solar eclipse viewing glasses.

At the end of the eclipse, as we turned around to leave, we were greeted with a surprise as you will see in the last photo.

The next Partial Solar Eclipse in Hawaii is scheduled on October 2, 2024, then on March 14, 2025 we will have a Total Lunar Eclipse in Hawaii, on September 7, 2025 we will have another Total Lunar Eclipse in Hawaii, and THE NEXT ANNULAR (ring of fire) SOLAR ECLIPSE in Hawaii will be on December 29, 2149 at 3:12 pm.
